Compresses memory files like CLAUDE.md or todo lists into caveman-speak to cut input tokens, keeping a readable backup.

- Compresses CLAUDE.md, todos, and preference files
- Backs up the original to a folder skill loaders won't re-read
- Refuses files that look like secrets, such as
.env
When to use it
Use it when instruction files loaded every session get long. File contents are sent to your configured model provider, so avoid sensitive files.
How to install
- Run the command below in your terminal. Pick the agents you use (Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Gemini CLI, Copilot, and more) and it installs into the right folder.

- To install manually, download the
caveman-compressskill folder from the GitHub repository and copy it into your agent's skills folder, such as~/.claude/skills/or.cursor/skills/. - Ask your agent for a related task and the skill is used automatically.
